These checklists are designed to make your move as smooth and transparent as possible.
Please review each item carefully and contact us if you have any questions.
Move-In Checklist
Before Moving In
- ✅ Lease Signed & Copies Provided
All tenants listed must sign before keys are released.
- ✅ First Month’s Rent & Security Deposit Paid
Payments must clear before move-in.
- ✅ Utilities Transferred
Place electric, gas, water, and trash services in your name starting on the lease start date.
- ✅ Move-In Inspection Scheduled
Walk-through will document the property’s condition before you move in.
- ✅ Keys, Fobs, or Garage Remotes Issued
Verify the correct number of keys and note any missing items.
On Move-In Day
- ☐ Take photos of every room (especially any existing damage).
- ☐ Test all appliances and report malfunctions within 48 hours.
- ☐ Confirm smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors are working.
- ☐ Review emergency contacts and maintenance request procedures.
- ☐ Review lease rules (parking, trash, noise, pet policy, etc.).
Within First Week
- ☐ Submit the completed Move-In Condition Form.
- ☐ Verify your mailing address and any required renters’ insurance policy.
- ☐ Introduce yourself to neighbors and confirm mailbox key works.
Move-Out Checklist
Notice & Preparation
- ✅ Notice of Intent to Vacate Submitted
Provide written notice at least 30 days before your move-out date.
- ✅ Forwarding Address Provided
Needed for security deposit return and final communication.
- ✅ Utilities
Keep utilities active through the last day of your lease.
- ✅ Schedule Final Inspection
Contact management to set a walk-through time.
Cleaning Requirements
- ☐ Remove all personal belongings and trash.
- ☐ Vacuum, sweep, and mop all floors.
- ☐ Clean kitchen thoroughly — oven, refrigerator, cabinets, sink, and counters.
- ☐ Clean bathroom(s) — toilet, tub/shower, sink, mirror, and floors.
- ☐ Wipe down all walls, baseboards, doors, and windowsills.
- ☐ Replace any burned-out light bulbs and clean fixtures.
- ☐ Replace HVAC filters if applicable.
Repairs & Condition
- ☐ Patch nail holes or minor wall marks.
- ☐ Report any damages that occurred during tenancy.
- ☐ Return property in the same condition as move-in (normal wear allowed).
Final Steps
- ☐ Lock all doors and windows.
- ☐ Return all keys, fobs, and garage remotes.
- ☐ Provide proof of utility disconnection or transfer if requested.
- ☐ Leave forwarding address for deposit return.
